WICHITA — Kurt Schmidt, owner of the popular Picasso’s Pizzeria in Delano, is looking at opening a second location on the east side.
One possible site is the southeast corner of Central and Vassar in College Hill.
“Nothing’s set in stone,” Schmidt says. “I haven’t signed anything.”
His first Picasso’s opened in March and was an immediate hit.
Schmidt says his plan from the beginning was to have more than one restaurant.
He’s not thinking much about expansion plans this week, though.
“Right now I’m worried about my walk-in (cooler) because it’s not working,” Schmidt says.
The restaurant had a partial power outage on Sunday and Schmidt says “basically it fried my compressor.”
The restaurant is closed for now, but Schmidt hopes to reopen Wednesday.
Then, he’ll have more time to think about east-side locations again.
“I’ve got to figure out which is the right one.”
