WICHITA — The almost year-old Urban Renewal Consignment has done so well in the short time it’s been open, owners Kathy and Joe Goodale are expanding to a bigger space.
The Goodales opened in 1,200 square feet at 13th and Maize Road in July.
They will close there around June 20 and reopen in the middle of July in 1,800 square feet at the Westlink Shopping Center near Central and Tyler.
“It’s a significant difference,” Kathy Goodale says of the increased space.
She says they’ll be able to accommodate more shoppers and be able to sell larger furniture items as well.
Joe Verbeckmoes of Benchmark Real Estate Group handled the deal.
The Goodales are gutting the Westlink space to remodel it.
Goodale says she likes that Sweet Repeats, a woman’s clothing consignment shop, is at the center. She thinks the stores will offer one-stop shopping in the area since Sweet Repeats focuses on clothing and Urban Renewal has decor, furniture and jewelry.
Urban Renewal also is now open on Sundays, which may be convenient for members of the nearby GracePoint Church.
Goodale says she now has 350 consignors.
“It’s just not stopping,” she says. There’s “a lot coming in, a lot coming out.”
“It’s just been a beautiful thing to accommodate people. . . . We feel it’s a win-win situation.”
