New 15,000-square-foot medical complex coming to Ridge Road

WICHITA — A new 15,000-square-foot medical complex is under construction at 2135 N. Ridge Road behind Red Bean’s Bayou Grill and McDonald’s.

Cook Construction owner Larry Cook and his brother, Gerry, are building the complex with New Medical Health Care physicians Greg Lakin and William Simon.

“They’re actually having a presence in there, too,” Larry Cook says of Lakin and Simon. “They needed some more room.”

New Medical Health Care is at 2131 N. Ridge Road.

The new complex with have seven medical and dental tenants.

Cook says he’s still finalizing some of the leases.

He’s finishing the pad site now and expects the building to be ready in three months.

Look for more information on the tenants before then.

Cinnamon’s Deli to join Five Guys and Long John Silver’s near northwest Lowe’s

WICHITA — A third restaurant is joining Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Long John Silver’s Freshside Grille in front of Lowe’s near 29th and Maize.

Cinnamon’s Deli will open in 2,400 square feet next to Five Guys, which will anchor the south end of the strip center there.

Long John Silver’s anchors the north end.

Central Park Place Retail is developing the 8,960-square-foot center.

Brad Saville of Landmark Commercial Real Estate and Christian Ablah of Classic Real Estate are principals in Central Park. Cook Construction is the builder.

They broke ground on the project Wednesday.

At a time that not many strip centers are under construction — and many are sitting empty — Ablah thinks “the exciting tenants that we have with this kind of location” is why he and Saville are able to proceed with theirs.

The center is 81 percent leased. There’s 1,680 square feet left to lease, and Ablah and Saville are open to either a restaurant or retail.

Look for the new restaurants to open in early 2010.

Bud Gates to bring Easyhomes to Wichita

easy

WICHITA — For the first time, Bud Gates of Easygates is bringing two of his Easyhome stores to Wichita.

He has eight others elsewhere, including stores in the Kansas City area and Salina.

The stores sell, lease or lease to own home furnishings, electronics and appliances.

The two here will be in the former KenMar shopping center at 13th and Oliver, which is now called Providence Square, and on Pawnee near Broadway in front of Wal-Mart.

The stores will be about 5,000 square feet each.

The one down south will be in a new building, which Larry Cook of Cook Construction is building. Construction has just begun.

The other store, which Coast to Coast Builders is preparing space for, should be ready within a few weeks.

“We’re very excited to be going in there because of the work they are doing and the development they are doing around that center,” says Chris Prater, president of sales and finance for Easygates.

He says the redevelopment of that center is part of what attracted Easyhome.

Prater says there are no other plans for more Easyhomes here yet, but he says, “We will most likely do some more here.”
