Twin Peaks franchisee negotiating on west-side space where another restaurant is

WICHITA — A popular pastime in some circles seems to be guessing where the west-side Twin Peaks will go.

Franchisee Rusty Rathbun is regularly asked about spaces as they become available, which has included the former Brooklyn’s Chophouse space, where Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill now is, and the former Tommy’s Restaurant and Lounge and Gobi Grille spaces.

“We’ve got something else in the works,” he says. “We’ve got a better location in mind.”

Rathbun says he can’t talk about the space because there’s a restaurant in it.

“Somebody’s in it, and negotiations are under way,” he says.

Rathbun hopes to open in the space by April or May.

He says the location isn’t one anyone is likely to think he’d put a Twin Peaks.

“It’ll blow people’s mind.”

You don’t say

“We’re ready to rock and roll.”

Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill to open on the west side no later than Aug. 1

WICHITA — Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill, which is opening a west-side location in the former Brooklyn’s Chophouse building on West 21st Street, now has a tentative opening date of Aug. 1.

If remodeling construction goes especially well, though, it could open as early as mid July.

Regardless, management says doors definitely will open before preseason football.

Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill to open by fall in the former Brooklyn’s Chophouse space

WICHITA — There’s a new, unnamed owner of the former Brooklyn’s Chophouse building on West 21st Street, and he already has a tenant to lease the space.

It’s Larry Harmon, who has decided to locate his west-side Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill there instead of in the former Two Brothers BBQ and Burger Grill space on West Central as he originally planned.

The owner of the former Brooklyn’s space, which was Players before that, “has a better deal for us,” Harmon says.

That space is about a third bigger than the 6,600-square-foot West Central space. Harmon says that offers “a lot of opportunities to do a lot more catering.”

He’s got a lot of remodeling ahead of him, so Harmon says he’s can’t give an opening date yet.

“It’ll be a little bit, but definitely before football season.”

Maintenance under way at former Brooklyn’s space; no new owner yet

WICHITA — There’s some work going on at the former Brooklyn’s Chophouse and Players space on West 21st Street, but it’s not for a new business.

The bank that owns the building is doing some maintenance, but it’s not for a new tenant or owner. At least not yet.

Last month, Have You Heard? reported that the new Jerseys Grill and Bar is doing so well in the former Johnny Carino’s space near K-96 and Webb that owner Jordan Allbright is already looking for a west-side Jerseys, too, and the former Brooklyn’s space is a possibility.

We’ll keep you posted.

Jerseys Grill and Bar proprietor scouting west-side sites

WICHITA — Two-month-old Jerseys Grill and Bar is doing so well in the former Johnny Carino’s space near K-96 and Webb that Jordan Allbright is already looking for a west-side Jerseys, too.

“People are loving it,” he says. “We’re already making some money.”

The former Players and Brooklyn’s Chophouse building on West 21st Street is one space he’s checking out.

A second Jerseys probably won’t open for several months.

Allbright says he already has costs and labor under control at the first Jerseys, though he is working long days.

“About 18-hour days so far. No big deal.”
