Aleycia Crawford is moving Eye Kandy Pin-up Photography to the city.
Crawford’s 7-year-old business had been in Delano for a couple of years, but she says that site had been small and unnoticeable.
“Nobody even knew I was there or open or anything.”
More recently, she’s been working out of a home studio in Goddard.
Crawford says the Newton address will be a major change.
“I have a really good spot,” she says of 2,000 square feet at Fifth and Poplar.
She says it’s a noticeable building at a busy intersection. Crawford says she’ll have enough space to have several rooms with scenes, such as a bedroom, set up for photos.
There’s also a room for costumes.
“It’s as big as my shooting space was in Delano,” Crawford says.
Crawford used to be an air-brush artist for Big Dog Motorcycles.
She began doing pin-up paintings and had real women pose for her, which she says turned into people wanting their photos done.
Crawford says she specializes in fun portraits that make women feel good. She also does boudoir photos and Hollywood glam-style photos. In recent years, she’s also added engagement photos and senior portraits with a vintage style.
Crawford planned to open the new address in February, but Crawford says she’s ahead of schedule and may be open within a week.
“We’re still getting the space ready right now,” she says. “It’s been lots of work.”
