You don’t say

“Dear Businesses Not in Wichita, If you are NOT here quit advertising! Thanks Dunkin Donuts, Ruby Tuesdays, Macys, and Dave and Busters. Sincerely Wichita Citizen!

Medical Community Credit Union to move to former Garden Plain State Bank space

UPDATED — A former bank no doubt is a better home for a credit union than a former doctor’s office, and that’s why Medical Community Credit Union is moving.

President and CEO Larry Schmitz says the credit union will be moving to “a true retail banking facility” where Garden Plain State Bank used to be at 1400 S. Oliver next to the Parklane Shopping Center.

Visibility and accessibility are the top reasons for the move, Schmitz says.

“It also gives us the opportunity to potentially have an ATM location.”

There will be a drive-through as well.

Currently, he says that “people have to get out of their car and walk in.”

There will be other new services that the new site will have as well, such as safe deposit boxes that are already there.

“We also don’t have a vault like that building does,” Schmitz says.

Event Elements to open in Westlink Shopping Center

WICHITA — Brandy and Jesse Zogleman have had 5,000 square feet of space at the Westlink Shopping Center at Central and Tyler for several months.

First, they had their Black Widow Costumes there for the Halloween season. Now, they’re opening their Event Elements rental business there.

“We are a one-stop shop for everything for your rental needs,” Brandy Zogleman says.

When the business opens Thursday, she says, it will have “everything you need under one roof” to stage an event with tables, chairs, linens and centerpieces, among other items.

Event Elements has been in business for a year but has catered mainly to wedding planners.

“We have a very focused clientele,” Zogleman says.

Now that the business will have a storefront, she says the clientele will expand to anyone.

The store will open at 3 p.m. on Thursday for a grand opening.

David Boyd with Walter Morris Cos. handled the deal for the space.

Zogleman says her rentals, which are also available for wholesale purchase, are on the high-end side. For instance, she says she has a range of Chiavari chairs from which to choose.

“It’s really fun,” Zogleman says of the showroom. “It’s very unique.”
