Nail Elements to expand in Derby

WICHITA — Nail Elements, one of the first tenants that opened in Occidental Management’s Spring Creek shopping center at Madison and Rock Road in Derby, is expanding.

Owner Vivian Le says it’s all about “more options for customers.”

She’s adding 632 square feet to her existing 1,600 square feet. Le says this will allow her to add more pedicure stations and throw parties for people wanting group nail treatments.

Le says the effect is “pretty much more delux.”

Occidental’s Chad Stafford handled the deal.

Amber’s Bellezza Salon & Boutique to open in its own space on West 13th Street

WICHITA — Technically, Amber Howard already has her own salon, which is a booth rental at Sola Salons at 21st and Tyler.

Now, though, Howard says she’s really getting her own place by moving her Amber’s Bellezza Salon & Boutique to 2534 W. 13th, which is on 13th Street between West Street and Meridian.

“I’ve been working really hard for the last eight years … just being able to have my own place,” she says. “It’s been my dream.”

In a nice twist for her, Howard says, “I’ll actually have booth renters.”

She has three renters so far and two booths still available.

The salon opens Sept. 3, and Howard plans a grand opening for Sept. 14.

Howard says the 1,000-square-foot space will have about 300 square feet for boutique items, such as jewelry, purses, wallets, scarves and ponchos.

“I have a lot of boutique items.”

IRS opens in new space today

UPDATED — The IRS, which has been closed for the past two business days in order to move, is reopening in its new office today.

The IRS and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office will be sharing space at 555 N. Woodlawn. The ICE move is scheduled for Oct. 1.

The agencies are taking about 40,000 square feet there, and there’s another 23,000 square feet available to lease.

Rock Ridge Family Medicine to open in new Bel Aire building this spring

WICHITA — Growing up, as Timothy Wolff planned a career in medicine, he thought about the business side, too.

Later this week, his plans finally will be realized when he breaks ground on a new home for his Rock Ridge Family Medicine at the northeast corner of 53rd and Rock Road in Bel Aire.

“This has kind of been a dream of mine ever since I was in high school,” he says. “Something that I can call my own.”

Wolff is a doctor of osteopathic medicine and currently is at 9050 E. 29th St. North, where he’s been for six of the 16 years he’s been in practice.

As a native of rural Nebraska, Wolff says he’s always liked the idea of the small doctor’s office on the corner.

“The mom-and-pop-type practice is kind of what I’ve always wanted to do,” he says. He thinks a doctor’s office “should be someplace where somebody can walk in and know who they’re seeing. They don’t have to worry if they’re going to have to retell their story over and over again.”

Wolff achieved that by opening his own place, but owning the building takes him to the next level, he says.

“That concreteness of having something there when it’s all said and done is enticing.”
