You don’t say

“Every day no different — snow, rain, sleet, ice, 105 degrees outside — great day to sell a car, great day to buy a car.”

All About Her boutique’s bra-fitting legacy

WICHITA — When Aleta Williams announced her retirement to Have You Heard? last week, she mentioned that she felt like she didn’t have any competition.

There’s some new competition on the block, though.

Lisa Wayne opened All About Her in October at 536 S. Bluff.

She’s a certified mastectomy fitter and sells breast prostheses, regular bras and swimwear at the boutique.

Wayne used to work for her mother-in-law, Designs by Darris owner Darris Wayne, who has run a bra-fitting business from her Wichita home for more than two decades.

“She taught me everything she knows basically,” Lisa Wayne says.

She says her mother-in-law will be retiring in a few years.

“That just opened up the doors for me to open up and get established,” Wayne says. “She told me Wichita’s big enough for both of us.”

As long as her mother-in-law is still in business, Wayne says, “I’m not trying to take anybody away from her. She’s got a lot of loyal customers”

Like Williams, who was in business for more than 40 years, Wayne is finding that she enjoys helping people.

“It helps people … more than any other job I ever had,” she says.

“It’s just a passion.”

CVS confirms it’s coming to Wichita

WICHITA — It’s not exactly what you would call breaking news, but CVS finally has confirmed it is entering the Wichita market.

It was February when Have You Heard? first reported that the Rhode Island-based chain would be coming.

“We are currently under construction for two new CVS/pharmacy locations in Wichita at 13th and Maize, which is scheduled to open next Spring, and at Central and Oliver, which is scheduled to open next Fall,” said spokesman Mike DeAngelis in an e-mail.

“While we plan to open additional locations in Wichita, we have no comment on specific locations at this time, nor would we comment on an overall number of stores we plan to open. We operate over 30 stores in Kansas and we look forward to serving the pharmacy needs of the Wichita community beginning in 2013.”

A developer also confirms a CVS will open on the northwest corner of 21st and Amidon, and platting documents show the company is considering the southwest corner of Harry and Hillside as well.

Furnish My Nest won’t open at Shops at Tallgrass after all

WICHITA — In March, Have You Heard? reported that Chance Shipman was going to open Furnish My Nest to sell furniture, accessories and lighting in the Shops at Tallgrass near 21st and Rock Road.

The store never did open, though, and it appears it never will.

“Yes, he did sign a lease and has not been seen or heard from since,” says April Reed of Slawson Cos. “That’s kind of the bottom line of it all.”

She says she’s tried reaching Shipman numerous times and received a text from him about family and funding issues.

“I don’t know what his situation is because he was not communicating with us about it,” Reed says. “He just never fulfilled his financial obligations.”

Shipman couldn’t be reached for comment for this story.
