You don’t say

“We don’t want to mess up the paint Steve put on the plane.”

After more than two decades at Twin Lakes, Fashion Bug to leave by late January

WICHITA — After more than two decades at the Twin Lakes shopping center, Fashion Bug is preparing to close, though it’s not happening just yet.

“We don’t have a close date yet,” says store manager Lindsey Constable.

She says the store will continue to receive new items through the end of this month.

Sales of as much as 60 percent off are under way.

Constable says when Ascena Retail Group bought Charming Shoppes earlier this year, it decided to close the Fashion Bug chain.

Ascena also owns Maurices, Dress Barn and Justice, which are not going out of business.

Although Constable can’t say for certain when Fashion Bug will close, she says it won’t remain in business past the end of January.

Wink Hartman Sr. says someone hacked his Facebook account and wrote ‘slanderous’ and ‘beyond racist’ remarks

WICHITA — The election may be over, but Wink Hartman Sr. is still dealing with some political fallout.

A Nov. 8 post on Hartman’s Facebook wall shows that Hartman typed, “The following are the words of another, but still worth the read.”

He then included something someone else wrote under the subject “Death of a Nation.”

It said, in part:

“The American Dream ended last night in Ohio. The second term of Barack Obama will be the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind. A coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Feminists, Gays, Government Workers, Union Members, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the ‘forever needy,’ the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other ‘fellow travelers’ has ended Norman Rockwell’s America.”

When asked about the post today, Hartman said he didn’t write it and had never seen it.

“I’ll have to deny knowing anything about that,” he said. “I find the Facebook verbiage to be repulsive and against everything I believe and live for.”

Hartman said he’s taken aback.

“Those are very slanderous and racist … and vulgar things to say about anybody,” he said. “This is beyond racist.”

Hartman says he has had people write some of his past Facebook posts, but he says he won’t accuse anyone in this case. He believes his Facebook account may have been hacked.
