Creative Awards & Screen Printing to move to larger, more accessible space

WICHITA — John Stangle has always wanted to own a building where he could locate his Creative Awards & Screen Printing.

If he’d bought the building he’s in at 4625 E. Kellogg when he bought the business in 1995, Stangle says, “This would have been the year it was paid off.”

Stangle sells trophies, plaques and promotional products and offers screen printing and embroidery, among other things.

A combination of factors led him to buy new space four blocks west of Wesley Medical Center at 2801 E. Central.

The price was right, thanks to the market, and the completed expansion of Kellogg served as a motivating factor, too.

“Even though we face Kellogg . . . people don’t know we’re back there,” Stangle says of the new entrance to his building off an unmarked side street.

His shop will have expanded room now, too — 5,600 square feet compared to his current 2,600 square feet.

“We found a distressed building, and we’re going to unstress it,” Stangle says.

The renovation won’t be complete by the time he moves Aug. 23.

“It’ll be a work in progress.”

Stangle will be able to have a much larger showroom now.

“I’ll be able to display some of my crystal ware now.”

He has a relatively new sand carver (which sandblasts crystal and wood), which he’s not had the space to use like he wants at his current address.

Stangle is especially looking forward to the sand carver having its own usable space.

“I haven’t been able to get it out and play with it.”
