Jordan Sports to open at Chisholm Trail Center-Outlet & Retail Shops

WICHITA — Landon Jordan had hoped to teach social studies at Valley Center High School where he’s an assistant coach of the girls basketball team, but he says state budget cuts foiled those plans.

So instead, Jordan, who has a master’s degree in sports management, is opening Jordan Sports at Chisholm Trail Center-Outlet & Retail Shops in Newton.

The 1,200-square-foot store will offer screen printing, embroidery, uniforms and some equipment.

“I know about sports,” Jordan says.

So when teaching didn’t work out, he says he started contemplating this store and made some calls to check into it.

“The more people I called, the more people wanted stuff,” Jordan says.

His father, Randy, also will be involved in the business. Randy Jordan is the head girls basketball coach at Newton High School.

Landon Jordan says they hope to sell to a lot of colleges, high schools and recreation centers.

The business officially opens July 1, which is when a Web site will be ready, too. Landon Jordan says he’ll offer an expanded line of products at www.jordansportsks.com.

Have you contemplated officials gear. It seems like no one wants to carry officials gear, and you have to order it over the internet. Maybe not enough demand, but it is a thought since you are leaning toward uniforms, etc.

    IKEA
    Trader Joe’s (related to ALDI)
    ALDO (shoes)
    A fondue restaurant
    Macy’s
    Nordstrom’s
    AMC theaters
    An outdoor ice rink (seasonal)
I can consider that for Old Town Square where the farm and art market is in the summer.
