“Have they really ever been here?”

Darrin Hackney of Heroes Sports Bar & Grill on how he’s now asking people seeking charitable donations from Heroes to become Facebook fans first

Not a bad idea, but all they have to do is “unfriend” Heroes once they get what they want. I think it’s disgusting that so many organizations have become beggers when it comes to asking for product donations from locally owned businesses when they DON’T ever patronize them. There is absolutely no customer loyalty toward small business in this city. Most Wichitans don’t care about patronizing until the business is closing, then they expect to practically be given the merchandise. Wichitans are the most fickle consumers I’ve ever seen.

Hey mytwocents: do you have any examples? I try to support local businesses on my side of town. And every call I get at work, if I can’t help them, I steer them towards another local business. And my local business even gets a lot of referrals from franchise businesses. I don’t know where you get your info, but I would guess that you made it up.

Sounds like somebody needs to explain to Darrin and mytwocents the difference between “business” and “charity”. Requiring mutual support from charities is nothing short of despicable. Exactly how would it look if Mothers Against Drunk Driving became a fan of Heroes Sports Bar and Grill on Facebook? Brilliant.
