B98-FM to interview Brett Harris’ possible replacements in a “Wichita Idol” format

duoWICHITA — A lawyer for Brett Harris met with Clear Channel Radio representatives Friday, but there’s no resolution on whether Harris will remain as morning host at B98-FM.

“Brett has been given a new contract offer, and he has yet to respond,” says Tom Glade, Clear Channel vice president and market manager.

Glade previously said he’s starting a search for Harris’ replacement just in case.

Now, he’s bringing five candidates to Wichita to compete in “Wichita Idol (Tracy’s Looking For A Good Man).”

Each candidate will co-host with Harris’ former morning co-host, Tracy Cassidy, who has been doing the show with guest hosts since Glade told Harris he couldn’t return until he made a decision.

Listeners will be invited to offer their comments on each host starting Monday.

“They’re certainly going to have a role,” Glade says of listeners helping select Harris’ replacement.

Too bad they won’t let any local people audition.

I completely agree about the local talent issue. Why not try to bring back some of the talent run off by corporate radio the past few years. I personally miss Gary Hightower, Brent Hightower, Barry Casey, and Gayla Crouse.

brett is still on the air? I quit listening to that station years ago when he became a non-stop shill for American Idol. Every morning, all the time was nothing but 100% american idol worship.

    borrrrrring.

    Just more exploitation.

If they want us to vote for Bretts replacement, let’s all vote against them!!! We want Brett back.

That’s the problem with local radio stations. They no longer have the local personality connection. They have all gone corporate. The personal connection that folks feel on the radio, which leads to loyalty listening went by the wayside with stations went corportate. Going corporate it becomes all about the bottom dollar. Fortunately, some stations have figured that out…. but i’s too late and it’s too late to go back the ship has left the dock. We have lots some of the great radio eras due to corporateship.

Agree with Sticks…miss Gayla & JOn Spear, also miss Rick Gannon…who just disppeared off the air last week…there one day, gone the next..no comment, no nothing…hard to be a loyal listener when the stations pull talent with a following with no notice.

In case you haven’t heard, Wichita has a new Brett & Tracy. They’re Brian and Kelly at KFDI and much more fun anyway.

Brett’s departure would be just fine with our household. He’s the reason we don’t listen to B-98. He’s gotten just too arrogant for Wichita and it is detectable listening to him.

Please get someone quickly, poor Tracy is so unnerved that her nervous laughter has simply gotten out of control!! Listening to her on the radio is almost painful these days. Maybe if she has a steady partner she will stop the random giggling.

Brett has every right to make a decision that is appropriate for he and his family. Let it be his decision not a cohersion. We would “All” miss him, but it is his future to deside on, not mine or anyone else.

This is so sad! I want Brett back! I’ve been listening to that radio show all my life and was looking forward to listening to them while in college. No offense to Tracy, but I find her annoying especially without Brett. Brett could keep the show moving by himself, but Tracy can’t even do with five other people in the room. Brett is a must.
Brett, if you are reading these, please come back. We miss you so much. Listening to the radio is just a heartbreak now. You just can’t go anywhere else, but if you decide to, please do so quickly. You made my morning and without your movement in the morning, my days aren’t so chipper. Please come back soon!
