YB Meats at Normandie Center is closed

WICHITA — After about two years in business, YB Meats in Normandie Center at Central and Woodlawn has closed.

The store’s last day in business apparently was Saturday.

Owner Eric Kauffman couldn’t be reached for comment.

When he opened the store in 2007, Kauffman said, “The biggest drive (to do it) is the number of people who come over to the west store and say they wished we were on the east side.”

For 21 years, there was a lone YB Meats at 798 N. West St.

That location is still open.

SMS Media Partners debuts two new online radio stations this week

WICHITA — And then there were three. And four.

SMS Media Partners started its third online broadcast property Monday and will launch its fourth Thursday.

KWTW, or www.twisterwichita.com, is a new young country format that debuted at 10 a.m. Monday.

“It’s a really hot country,” says chief operating officer Steve Mills. “It’s something that you’re not going to find on the dial.”

On Thursday, SMS will debut a hybrid classic rock and adult album alternative station.

KRZZ, which is www.krzzonline.com, will be similar to what KRZZ, 96.3-FM, used to be.

“People always used to say the Internet and online stuff is the future,” Mills says.

“The future is now. It’s no longer tomorrow.”

Anytime Fitness to open in Park City

WICHITA — Rod and Becky Watson are opening their second Anytime Fitness in the greater Wichita area, this time in Park City.

“There appears to be a growing area that could use us,” Rod Watson says.

The new site will open at 1615 E. 61st Street in October.

The Watsons already have a location at 1812 S. Seneca, which they opened last year.

Their landlord there had space in Park City, too.

“And we started looking at the growth of Park City,” Rod Watson says.

The Anytime Fitness franchise is growing in the Wichita area, too. There are three in Wichita, one in Newton and one in Augusta.

The Watsons’ new site will be about 3,500 square feet, which is an average size for the national chain.

Their South Seneca store is larger, with 4,700 square feet.

Watson says in addition to offering cardio workouts and strength training, Anytime Fitness allows its members 24-hour access to its facilities.

“That’s a huge feature of it.”

Craig Tatro hearing postponed

WICHITA — The hearing that was scheduled today for misdemeanor charges against Craig Tatro has been rescheduled for Oct. 1.

Tatro, a former partner in CA’s Men’s Fine Grooming, is charged with two counts of unlawful use of a financial card and two counts of temporary deprivation of property.

The charges stem from the alleged use of a customer’s credit card at a nearby store.
