Spirit AeroSystems exec to be on “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire”

WICHITA — Since he’s vice president and controller for Spirit AeroSystems, surely Randy Davis is a pretty smart fellow.

But is he smart enough to win on a game show?

We’ll see when “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire” airs Aug. 13. Davis is a contestant.

Davis taped the show last week but can’t talk about it until after it airs.

Check out his post-show interview on my “Have You Heard?” blog Aug. 14.

Former Cibola owners are thinking about a new restaurant

Former Cibola owners Kevin Brown and Tracy Fahrbach are contemplating a new restaurant, but they’re only in the initial stages of thinking about it.

“I get calls every day (from) people wanting me to do something,” Brown says.

“We haven’t made any decision on anything right now,” he says. “We’re just not ready.”

Part of the reason is the economy.

“Anybody who does anything right now is nuts,” Brown says. “It’s still horrible right now. It’s not a good climate for new business.”

Eldridge Woods Funeral Service to sell, change names to Central Avenue Funeral Services

WICHITA — Todd Coley has worked at Eldridge Woods Funeral Service for more than a decade and is now in the process of buying it.

He’s also changing the name to Central Avenue Funeral Services since it’s located at 2703 E. Central.

Coley says the funeral home has been in business since the 1940s when it opened under another name.

“It changed hands over time,” he says.

In recent years, Coley says, “It’s just declined.”

The business averages 45 to 50 funerals a year.

Coley wants to handle an average of 75 to 100 funerals annually.

The name change is going to take about 30 days, and Coley intends to embark on a marketing and advertising campaign to get the word out.

“Anytime that I get a call,” he says, “I’m ready to give some service.”
