Pink Saloon to open by Aspen Boutique

pinkThere’s a new clothing store going where Frank & Margaret used to be just down from Aspen Boutique at Douglas and Oliver.

Brooke Greene is closing her Pink Saloon in El Dorado on June 27 and moving it to Wichita at the beginning of July.

When the opportunity came to take that space, Greene says, she didn’t want to pass it up.

“I love fashion, I love business, and as a Christian I love ministry,” Greene says. Pink Saloon is “just our way of, I don’t know, loving people and doing what we love and just being part of fashion.”

Greene says her shop sells a mix of fashion in a range of sizes.

When she opened in El Dorado almost three years ago, Greene initially planned to target younger shoppers.

“As our business has grown . . . there’s so many women of all ages . . . that shop with us,” she says.

Aspen Boutique owners James and Monica Smits also own the center where Pink Saloon is moving. James Smits says friends are concerned about them bringing another women’s clothing shop so close to their store. But he believes it will only strengthen their business to have shoppers think of their center when looking for new clothes.

Greene isn’t sure if her Wichita Pink Saloon will be her only shop or if she’ll add more.

“I’m just open to whatever the Lord has for me, honestly.”

Eaton Steakhouse has shake-up amid financial woes

eaton1To read the Tweets that Eaton Steakhouse posted on Twitter Monday morning (such as wishing everyone a happy day and thanking diners for making Mother’s Day a success), it would seem everything was business as usual.

But it’s far from it. Several staff members — including the chef and general manager — left following Mother’s Day, and other past employees are sharing stories of the restaurant’s financial woes.

“No one has walked out on us as of yet,” owner Steve Compton said on Monday. “We’re in negotiations with . . . some of our cooking staff. As far as I know, we’re still solid.”

Today, Compton confirms those employees are gone, but he won’t discuss it.

“I can’t say anything right now,” he says. “I haven’t had a chance to regroup yet.”

You don’t say

Psychologist bucks trend to move downtown

Lance Parker is yet another business person who is bucking a trend and moving to downtown instead of away from it.

Parker, a psychologist, is moving his Parker Group practice from 240 N. Rock Road to Occidental Plaza, an Occidental Management property at 300 N. Main.

“I do a lot of work with attorneys, so it’s more centrally located to the attorneys and the courthouses,” Parker says.

He also says he has patients all over, so the new office will be centrally located for that as well.

Parker is taking 1,300 square feet and will have room to add more psychologists. He’ll move in June 1 and have an open house in September.
