The first of three new east-side hotels will open later this month.
In addition to more hotels in the area, Korroch says, “Certainly, there’s been a downturn in demand as well.”
He’s not worried, though.
“I just believe that over time it’s going to be a really good investment,” he says.
The project has gone especially smoothly, too.
“Really, it all starts with just having a great plan,” Korroch says.
Changes cost time and money. Korroch says about 90 percent of what he planned is what was built, with only minor tweaks along the way.
“I’ve got to really tip my hat to Key Construction on the project and also my own team,” he says.
Law/Kingdon was the architect.
Korroch says the hotel also came in “well under budget.”
“These days, that’s all you can ask for,” he says.
Even with a tough economy, Korroch is already thinking about his next Wichita project.
“I would like to do another hotel in Wichita, no question about it,” he says.
And even though he already has the Courtyard by Marriott in Old Town, Korroch says, “Downtown is where I would want to target next.”
