I heard through the grapevine that you have moved out of state, Bill. Why are you still so concerned with the Wichita Press when you no longer live in the area?

BRENT

I hate to be a nag, but are you ever going to report the names of the investors that own the Broadview Hotel. As I tried to explain to the readers, these investors, the hotel has been losing money and the investors probably bought the hotel for next to nothing. They would ahve earned a huge windfall when they sold the hotel to NY investors along with a subsidized city loan and would have bought the city owned garage at a 90% discount.

I think that the McLatchy executives read these blogs and don't know what to do with a worthless daily with worthless reporters. Given the recent firings 2 weeks ago of KAKE's station manager and KWCH's news director & assignment editor (ouch!) and last weeks resignation of KSN's news director to make a lateral move back to Tulsa, I bet that there's a lot of buzz in the industry about the Wichita news media betraying their profession. I'm glad I was video taped at the 12/2007 public forum at Rucky Eck chewing your butt out for the Eagle refusing to cover the human rights atrocites in the Wichtia juvenile courts. AS you recall less than 6 weeks later a 2 year girl died because fascist Judge Tony Powell did not have good information and had to make a life & death decision on bad information.

However I'm very surprised that Pam is risking her professional reputation by continuing the stonewalling. I spoke with Carrie yesterday and told her that I would e-mail her some scanned documents to pass up the chain of command. It's never too late for the Eagle reporters & editors to make amends by doing their job. Who knows, you may even save some children's lives (although I understand that that is not a goal of civic journalism).

Huh...you pay someone consultant fees to find you a candidate, and when you offer the candidate a job you pay the consultant AGAIN?
It'd be cheaper just to take out a week of "Help Wanted" ads in the top 100 papers in the country.

It'd be interesting if one of the comments spoken about in the meeting was actually used by restaurants and other business. That is, charitable events may be exempted from the ban.

How many restaurants and business establishments will have donation jars set out on the counter and a poster at the door designating that a charitable event is going on?

Will be interesting to see how many business start losing money because of the new ordinance. I wonder if the City can be sued over income loss in this matter. Well, sued successfully.

I appreciate your identifying the extremeness of both national parties. However I feel they have to do it to get the voters involved.
I will be interested to heard the speaker at the next Wichita City Council meeting on the concerns within the Hispanic community. Right wing radio and others just keep coming down on the Hispanics harder and harder.

Thanks for explaining about the browser. While Mozilla is much faster and less prone to virsuses than IE, I have found I need to also open my IE browser to play some games and video. And I have not been able to play the city video's. I wonder if this is why I can't play the Eagle's AP videos.
And I'm glad I didn't stay for the smoking discussion.

After four months, many bars in the Chicago area are ignoring the ban, figuring any fines to be just another cost of doing business, like a new tax. The charities listed spend a huge sum of tax exempt money for lobbyists and political action comittees, instead of cancer research, to badger local lawmakers to get their agenda, then move on to other states. They have absolutly no concern for local affairs. Ohio eliminated it's "Tobacco prevention foundation" when it tried to tie up Ohio money. They are learning from their mistakes.
