Kansas needs a cheese plant, senator says

cheese U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback said Friday that Kansas needs to attract a major cheese processing plant.

The Republican candidate for governor said that dairies and cheese production facilities were an agricultural business area of growth the state should pursue.

“A Brownback Administration will roll out the welcome mat for dairies to come or expand in Kansas,” he said. “Many of the advantages that have led feedlot operations to our state apply equally to dairy production.”

Brownback said he would review the state’s regulations to determine how the state could help attract and grow such businesses.

“We need a major cheese processing plant in Kansas to expand market opportunities for our milk,” Brownback said

Holland and Goyle to go door to door in Wichita

Democratic gubernatorial candidate state Sen. Tom Holland will be going door to door in Wichita on Saturday.

Joining him will be Wichita state Rep. Raj Goyle, the Democratic canidate for the Fourth Congressional District seat.

Holland, of Baldwin City, and Goyle will be starting their walk at 10 a.m. at the corner of Faulkner and Harrison.

Goyle is running against Republican Mike Pompeo for the Congressional seat and Holland is running against Republican U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback.

Brownback to speak at Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association meeting Monday

TOPEKA – Republican gubernatorial candidate U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback will sit on a panel discussion about energy policy at the Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association on Monday.

The meeting will be 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Airport Hilton, 2098 Airport Road in Wichita.

Brownback is running against Democratic state Sens. Tom Holland and Kelly Kultala, of Baldwin City and Kansas City, Kan., in the November election. Also in the race are Libertarians Andrew P. Gray and Stacey Davis, and Reform party candidates Ken Cannon and Dan Faubion.
