Haysville settles jail fees lawsuit with Sedgwick County

Sedgwick County commissioners this morning agreed to settle with the city of Haysville over jail fees for about $46,000.

Haysville was one of several cities in the county that had refused to pay an hourly fee the county began assessing in 2008 for inmates housed in jail on municipal-only charges.

Under the settlement, Haysville will pay $46,534 to settle back fees for 2008 and 2009, including interest.

The cities of Goddard and Park City also have settled with the county.

Wichita has repeatedly said it will not pay the fees. A judge recently ruled that the county has the right to charge the fees.
