Sedgwick County commissioner Kelly Parks isn’t saying a word to explain comments he made Tuesday that he had turned over some “stuff” to the FBI.
Parks made the mysterious remarks, reported first in The Eagle, during a discussion about ethics policies.
On Wednesday, he declined to talk futher about what he had turned over to the FBI. The FBI has not commented on the matter.
Parks’ colleagues on the board as well as county leaders such as manager William Buchanan say they have no idea what Parks was talking about.
Parks told The Eagle on Wednesday that he met with an FBI agent after he made his comments Tuesday and that he had been instructed not to say anything else.

This could be an episode from “The Office”. Parks has a certain Michael Scott quality about him.
Either the ol boy has lost his marbles or something unethical is going on…
PARKS IS A NUT CASE AND SO IS GWEN W THEIR PEOPLE NEED TO VOTE FOR NEW REPLACEMENTS AS SOON AS THEY CAN
What a complete absolute idiot (Parks). The first and last thing the FBI tells anyone involved in an investigation is DO NOT TALK ABOUT THIS INVESTIGATION WITH ANYONE. So what does idiot boy do? Mentions an FBI investigation in a public meeting. Either he’s the stupidest person on the planet or in need of some serious psychiatric help. Either way he clearly shouldn’t be holding public office of any kind whatsoever.
I am all for our $80K salaried Commissioners paying for thier own WSU tickets and any tickets to any concerts at the coliseum or any other county venues out of their pay. Very few county workers make their salaries and they do not get freebies and are not even allowed to accept freebies that are not given countywide, such as free flu shots or the county day at the Zoo. These people earn salaries larger than any teacher in the school district and 90% of more of the workers whose salaries they approve. Receiving gifts from business owners presents potential conflict of interest charges as well as from educational institution. I am appalled that Mr. Tax Hater Peterjohn who criticizes everyone about almost everything didn’t come out strongly against acceptance of any gifts or preferential treatment. I guess he is as hypocritical as all those he has represented all these years. There should be a state wide prohibition for any state, county or other governmental agent from accepting anything not offered to all employees in any governmental setting. Ethical government starts from the ground up and it sounds like the SC commissioners may be Ground Zero. Pass an airtight ethics policy now. I suggest you use the one all employees of the County Mental Health division (COMCARE) are required to adhere to.
Kommissar Kelly is fun to watch. I hope people in his district are proud of him.
I can’t wait to see if anything comes of this. You just never know.
What an idiot!! This guy was actually a Chief of Police? Where? Disneyland??
Kelly, quit before someone recalls you. Get some professional help. Does the county have an EAP program.
You can’t make up stuff like this. “As Sedgwick County Turns” If it’s not him, it’s his sister Gwen.
“Uh, FBI?”
“Speaking.”
“I need to turn over some stuff.”
“Like what?”
“Well, I can’t tell you.”
“…….”
“It’s classified.”
“Who is this?”
“I can’t tell you that, either.”
“Well, I’m not sure how we can help.”
“But I need to turn some stuff over.”
“What is it in regards to?”
“Again, I’m not at liberty to say.”
“Sir, do you see the problem we have here?”
“Uh, no.”

“Hello? FBI? Hello? Well, at least I can now tell the Eagle I called ‘em.”
Where is Rod Serling to say “Submitted for your approval….?”
I’m not sure what to make of all this, but it certainly is entertaining.
Sounds like the making of a hostile working environment to me.
Mr. Tax Hater Peterjohn who criticizes everyone about almost everything didn’t come out strongly against acceptance of any gifts or preferential treatment.
Now what would you expect the attitude of a professional Lobbyist to be? That is their philosophy…Take in all you can; peddle to influence those you intend to sway, or even corrupt, for the benefit of the purpose you represent.
I’m pretty sure the FBI isn’t too worried about WSU game tickets (although the County Commissioners should definately be paying their own way into any entertainment venue). Whatever is going on would likely be bigger than that. It’s not clear to me exactly what influence WSU would be buying or what consideration the County Commission would have to offer them. (I’m not clear on exactly what the relationship is between WSU and the County Commission.) My mind keeps going to the relationship between certain County Commissioners and Justice Concepts who just signed up with the County for another cool quarter mil$ and still hasn’t delivered on the contract that expired last June.
