Tiahrt, 6 others under scrutiny by ethics investigators

tiahrt_toddKansas Congressman Todd Tiahrt of Goddard is one of seven members of a powerful House subcommittee under investigation for ties to an influential lobbying firm.

Ethics investigators are said to be looking at the ties between campaign contributions and earmarks that benefit clients of the lobbying firm, the PMA Group.

The subcommittee in question controls spending by the Pentagon.

The probe includes a review of the actions of the chairman of the Appropriations subcommittee on defense, John P. Murtha, a Pennsylvania Democrat long criticized for his devotion to earmarks and pork-barrel spending.

Tiahrt faces a tough 2010 U.S. Senate primary fight against fellow Republican Congressman Jerry Moran.

No word yet from Tiahrt’s office.

Here’s more from the Washington Post.

What? A lobbying group getting benefits from government spending? Wow, that never happens in Washington… Id say in this case, this is an equal opportunity offence and both Martha and Tankerless Todd should, if found guilty, leave office and say out of office.

And everyone thought that ‘Tanker Todd’ was LILY WHITE?

Just like Glickman before him Tankerless Todd has been in DC far too long. Time to turn him out and not send him to the Senate.

Well, well, well. And here I thought that David Koch kept Tiahrt supplied with all the lobbying and campaign funds a bought and sold public official could ever want.

Can’t wait to see what the probe turns out. But Tiahrt’s public record is already sufficient to demonstrate his absolute unfitness for a lifetime position in the Senate.

Is it possible that Tiahrt was just trying to raise some money to pay for an extra vowel?

What’s funny about all this, if these fakes get kicked out of Congress, they all go to work for their favorite lobbying firm as a lobbiest.

If Tihart is guilty he should not be re-elected. It does seem a little like Obama and Acorn doesn’t it?

Its an investigation for crying out loud, not an inditment! Settle down libs, don’t get too excited to see blood yet. The ACORN debacle is a proven fact of corruption and vote tampering, this is still just an investigation. to tell the truth it sounds just a bit too well well-timed in light of the close race he’s facing.

Way to go Eagle….you finally got him. He’s a minority member of a “powerfull House subcommitte” run by the most un-honorable Murtha. Guilty by association at worst. I guess BO is really a Socialist because of the self-proclaimed “Party” lovers he is associated with in his administration. That story is a cheap shot Steve.

Washington Post got the story from an online site. The original post came from an ethics committee employee who is now out a job. Started as a Repub jab at the Dems, Todd is just collateral damage for faux news.

The NY Times article this leads to is all about Murtha’s close ties with the crook. Not a peep about the Toddster. Yet not one dummycrat has a problem with that.

The Washington Post article provides almost no factual details as to the investigation. It is certain premature to reach any conclusion as concerns Congressman Tiahrt. The average donation to him from the PMA’s PAC and its employees over a five year period is less than four thousand dollars–a pretty puny sum for influence buying.

Nothing in the report indicates Tiahrt is the subject of any investigation. The headline is, as typical for this hateful rag, misleading. The horrible human beings who run this paper intentionally mislead at every opportunity.

Yeah, well so much for this hateful rag’s posting on the home page for less than six hours.

Still pimping the Teabagstacular @ LD parking lot?

Sketchy details, I’m sure. Just like in ‘06 when the Rethugs in the House Armed Services Committee cut a backroom deal to eliminate the office of the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR).That office only exposed the billions of lost and mismanaged taxpayer money.

Yea Jerry just might steam roll Todd. Thing is Jerry is +/- 55, when you compare Jerry’s age to the years he has held an elected office, Moran is the very definition of career politician

By lying muslim my guess someone meant President Obama. Obama is no more Muslim, that GWB is a Christian. They may just be peers in the lying department.
