
Wichita’s water department is among 10 being honored by the state for trying to exceed minimum requirements for water quality.
Other area water agencies honored include Cowley County Rural Water District No. 1 and the city of Harper.
The honors are part of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s third annual Capacity Development Awards .
“We commend these 10 entities for going above and beyond the Safe Water Drinking Act to ensure that their consumers and the environment are protected,” KDHE secretary Rod Bremby said in a statement.
The awards will be presented as follows:
• Cowley County RWD #1 – October 21, 7:30 p.m., RWD Office
• City of Harper – October 26, 6:30 p.m., City Hall
• Lyon County RWD #3 – November 2, 7 p.m., Olpe State Bank
• City of Wichita – November 3, 9 a.m., City Hall
• City of Leonardville – November 3, 7:30 p.m., City Hall
• City of Belvue – November 9, 7 p.m., City Hall
• City of Pratt – November 16, 5 p.m., City Hall
• City of Waverly – December 9, 6:30 p.m., City Hall
• City of Chapman – Date Pending
• City of LaCrosse – Date Pending
