In responding to some people who have e-mailed him to show their support for Sedgwick County manager William Buchanan, commissioner Kelly Parks has responded that they may not know all the facts.
The Eagle e-mailed Parks asking to elaborate, to which he replied “You may be surprised.”
Sources say that Parks and commissioner Gwen Welshimer hope to fire Buchanan today during an executive session after the board’s regular meeting. Neither Parks nor Welshimer have commented. The agenda for the executive session says that the board will meet for personnel matters related to non-elected staff.
Commissioner Karl Peterjohn likely would be the swing vote on a decision to fire or keep Buchanan.

The guy stunk as Police Chief in VC. I trust him about as far as I can throw the coliseum.
Buchanon has been good for the county.

I agree with the person who wrote, “Innocent til proven guilty!” Buchanan has been very good for the county and has been a good boss. I may not agree with everything he has done has far as the personnel part of the county but he has done well in other fields.
This is nuts. Just because Gwen and Parks cant keep campaign promises to cut taxes PLUS keep all the services intact they have decided to go after the messenger. I say get Gwen and Parks out of there.
Parks wants to consolidate his grip on the Commission so he can continue his back-room dealing with nobody there to stop him or document his actions. The rest of the Commission will continue to kow-tow to Parks and let him do whatever he wants.
As a retired county employee I say GET RID OF BUCHANNON! He is hell to work for and the county would be better off with happy employees!
