Former Wichita City Manager George Kolb
Former Wichita City Manager George Kolb appears to be a finalist for a vacancy in Grand Rapids, Mich., according to a story in The Grand Rapids Press.
But it’s not exactly smooth waters up there. The Press story focuses on the mayor, who is upset with the city’s search firm, which forwarded another candidate (not Kolb) with some tarnished credentials.
Kolb, who has been working as an interim city administrator in Valley Center, is one of four finalists the Press has identified.

Who Cares!!! The man tried to make it in wichita and rubbed people the wrong way. Good Bye!!!!
George kolb is a high quality highly credentialed manager with high ethical standards. I know him and understand that the public doesn’t always have all the facts about circumstances. He should not be tarnished in any way by his experience here in wichita. I wish him all the best. He deserves and has earned respect from many people around this country, and I hope he finds a good place to live and work.
Regardless of whether or not he did a good job in Wichia, is it really necessary to hound George Kolb around the country?
I appreciate being kept informed about Kolb. He made a favorable impact on Wichita and many of his programs are still active. Running a business when your customers (citizens) are constantly looking for change is challenging.
I don’t disagree with about being informed. Anyway, I interpreted the blog to mean that the Mayor was upset about Kolb. But it was cleared up after reading the article.
I wonder if he flew to Grand Rapids, coach or first class ? Probably coach since he would have had to pay.
He came to this area with a dubious past and immediatley offended the money folks in Wichita. He will go on to another town and soon be forgotten like all the other jokers these council members spend big money to find.
