No word yet on a hearing date for Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ nomination to become secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Spokesmen for the White House and Senate Finance Committee, which will hold her confirmation hearing, said nothing has been settled. Speculation on Capitol Hill leans to holding it after Congress’ two-week Easter recess.
That would put the hearing off until at least late April. Sebelius has been making the rounds on Capitol Hill to chat up lawmakers.
She would be the last of President Obama’s cabinet picks to be confirmed.

Any word on who Parkinson will appoint? It would be wonderful to have Chris Steineger fill the Lt. Governor spot.
She’llbillus will be a great fit in the OBAMA admin, Keep all them damn crooks together.
hurry up and confirm this great lady
All we heard during Obama’s campaign and immaculate inauguration was how he was “The Messiah”, “The Chosen One” and he was the next Jesus.
Well, there’s one HUGE difference between the REAL Jesus (who was a carpenter, remember) & the Obamanation; at least Jesus could build a cabinet!
Well, if nothing else, this show how important it is to Team Obama to have Katee in place and doing her health care thing. Perhaps, Team Obama has forgotten about the millions of uninsured Americans who are crying out for Government health coverage! Perhaps they have no concern about a leaderless Government Department, one that has a direct impact on millions of lives. Obviously folks, this delay is meant to permit Katee to remain in Topeka until the Legislature has finished its work. Until then, she will be there with her pen to veto any offensive Republican measures! Once the Legislature adjourns, Katee will pack her grip and be off to Washington City. Then, we Kansans will be rid of her–but the nation’s ordeal with her will just be beginning.
When Parkinson finally ascends to the Governor’s chair, I think we should all write and encourage him to appoint Paul Morrison as Lieutenant Governor. After all, Morrison was a Sebellius find. Would not his appointment be a fine and endearing tribute to her? Also, it would bring into State government a superb specimen of Kansas manhood!
Where is the fast track when we REALLY need it. Thirty days ago, she couldn’t even spell Washington…now, with any luck at all, she’ll live there.
Her confirmation hearing should be set for 2222 or anytime after her death.
