Former Wichita City Manager George Kolb is one of five finalists vying for the job as president of the San Antonio Water System, the San Antonio Express-News reports today. He and the other candidates are interviewing today, and it’s expected the field will narrow once more before a panel conducts more detailed interviews, according to the article.
The utility has a $400 million budget, which is about $100 million less than Wichita’s city budget. The utility serves about 341,000 water customers and 375,600 wastewater customers.
Kolb, who was forced out of his job in January under pressure from the city council, has also recently interviewed in Durham, N.C. and Boward County, Fla..
