Old Town’s story — through the city’s eyes

The city

Wichita is in the running for the American Planning Association’s 10 “Great Neighborhoods.”

Wondering why? Check out the city’s video, one of their more extensive productions. You’ll hear a bit of developer David Burk, a bit of former Mayor Bob Knight and some old school footage showing what Old Town used to look like.

The winners won’t be announced until October — AKA National Community Planning Month.

Brent – Keep up the brownnosing. Maybe someday you’ll be promoted to the editorial board and become a “celebrity” journalist by starring in a Bucky Walters video to be distributed on Eagle’s website. I guess when you published this blog post you did not know that the Warren Theater was in trouble. It’s tragic that the Wichita community leadership is only concerned about image, national awards and leadership positions in national professional organizations. It’s more tragic that the Eagle journalists are even more superficial. Glad you & I are on video tape from the 12/2007 public forum.

The video link to the city’s website for the video is a dead end. No video. I would really like to see it.

The link is working for me using Mozilla Firefox. You might try pasting this link into your browser’s address bar: http://services.wichita.gov/StreamingMedia/video.aspx?pubpoint=Oldtownaward&title=Old%20Town%20Recognition

I hope that helps. Go well.
