Some readers found that a page of their comics — and puzzles — were missing in Tuesday’s WichiTalk section.
These readers depend on solving their puzzles each day and on finding content in the paper where they expect it: in the right place.
We know the value of that, and we work hard to get things right every day.
So what went wrong?
WichiTalk editor Lori Buselt explains:
“Worried readers can rest assured that we’re not getting rid of the popular crossword, Cryptoquip, Jumble and Sukoku puzzles.
“Because of a production error, some editions of Tuesday’s WichiTalk did not include those features, as well as some comics. We apologize for the error and will provide those features on Page 7 in Wednesday’s WichiTalk. (You can find Wednesday’s installment of those features in their usual place, on Page 11, on Wednesday, as well.)”
We realize how important each section of The Eagle is to our readers. Our commitment is to have the features you want available to you each day.
And when errors occur such as this one, it only renews our determination to get it right.

One of the many concerns newspapers editors have these days is whether younger readers are paying attention to the paper. That doesn’t seem to be a problem in Wichita.
I recently received an e-mail from a fifth-grader at Minneha Core Knowledge Magnet School:
"I am writing to you regarding the Wichitalk of November 22nd. The cover showed a man and a woman reading the Wichitalk, which, in turn, shows a man and woman reading the Wichitalk, which, in turn, shows a man and woman reading the Wichitalk, and so on. I figured that it was a never-ending chain of a man and a woman reading the Wichitalk and wondered, ‘How did you do that?’ Will you please write back to me and tell me how you performed that amazing feat?"
I asked Coryanne Graham, art director for Wichitalk who also designed the page, to respond. Here is what she wrote:
"The Thanksgiving day cover of Wichitalk was a fun cover to work on. We first took a picture of our two ‘pilgrims’ reading an older GO! section of the paper. We put the Wichitalk logo and the headline on that image. Then we used a computer program to make a copy of that version of our cover. The copy was then shrunk and tilted and warped to make it fit over the old GO! section. We repeated that until the old GO! section was no longer visible in the overall image. Thank you for asking such a good question. I hope you enjoy reading Wichitalk and The Wichita Eagle."
Not only is it reassuring to hear from young readers, but to know that some of them are articulate, curious students of The Eagle speaks well to our future.

What can you expect when you get your flu shot this year? Most likely, your medical provider will be wearing gloves.
Our front-page photo showed otherwise, however. The image was a file photo, taken in October 2004. It was chosen to help illustrate the topic, but several readers called Eagle reporter Karen Shideler, expressing concern that the photo showed worrisome medical practices.
Most medical providers now wear protective gloves when treating patients. And that’s what you can expect when you get your shot to protect yourself from the flu this season.
