Number 7: If you are getting a large refund, adjust next year's withholding now so that you're not giving a free loan to the government. If you can, have the additional amount direct-deposited into a savings account so that you never see it in your paycheck and aren't tempted to fritter it away.

How about "Consider which is more important -- paying to watch crap on TV, or paying the electric bill?" Television is NOT a necessity. My brother-in-law survived without cable TV for three months by borrowing DVDs and tapes from us to watch. If there was something he HAD to watch, we ran a tape for him. Of course, he's hooked up now, and we rarely ever see him outside.

There are also other kinds of gifts you can make to reduce taxes for long- term estate planning. First, you can give up to 12,000 per donor per recipient to family members and others each year without triggering gift taxes. You can also give to your children’ s or grandchildren’ s education through 529 savings plans. You can gift 12,000 a year to a 529 plan tax- free— or better yet, take advantage of a law that allows you to give a single contribution, covering five years, to a 529 plan. That means you can...

With this unstable economy it's important to go onto a cash based lifestyle, you never know if you may lose your job just because the company is cutting back, so don't get caught with your pants down. Most of us have a mortgage which can't be helped but take a look at your other contracts like the cell phone; I canceled my cell contract and bought a Net10 phone which is already saving me money. Credit cards just pull us into that trap of spending money we don't really have, check out the envelope spending idea which I think is a great way to get out of credit card debt, then you can lock up the credit card and keep it for a rainy day emergency. The other luxuries are obvious - cable, PlayStation, dinning out and all those things you think you need but don't actually.

I also switched from Verizon to NET10 prepaid and is very happy with the service I get now. I did my homework before switching and found that NET10's coverage is really good, their per-minute rates are one of the best and I found their customer service to be excellent. I would recommend them to anyone.
I actually did not use all the minutes I paid for while under contract, and now I save typically $20-$35 a month!

I had a contract with varizon mobile and there customer service is a disaster, I got so sick of trying to sort out so many little problems that eventually I canceled the contract early and had to pay an stupid fee to do it but I now have a Net10 phone and I got to keep my number. I'm only paying 10cents per minute which includes roaming and I don't have any daily charges. Net10 works out cheaper than Verizon prepaid and customer services isn't a problem.

I had that problem with Tracfone, but only once. I haven’t found it to be an ongoing problem. Besides, which customer service isn’t a pain in the neck these days? I can name my bank for one, but I won’t go there. I want to remain serene today. The bottom line is for the savings you get with Tracfone, you can forgive a few customer service glitches once in a while.

Another way of keeping money in your pocket is called “Bartering”.
I am surprise of how uninteresting or little support that people give to actually use a system that could help them.
Why is that?
