How to have Thanksgiving dinner and never cook a thing

John Thien at Jet Bar-B-Q will smoke you a turkey and let you pick it up hot from the pit on Thanksgiving morning.

People, I am ON the Thanksgiving food beat.

Now, I LOVE to cook, so I love to cook Thanksgiving dinner. But I realize that not everyone shares that attitude.

Over the next two Fridays, I will provide you all the information you need to eat the traditional meal in Wichita without cooking a thing.

I start this week with my guide to restaurants and businesses in town that will cook your turkey or hams for you to take home and serve on Thanksgiving. They’ll smoke, deep fry, roast, inject — whatever you want. That story also includes a list of the places who will make your entire dinner, from turkey to taters to gravy, and send it home for you to reheat.

Next week, on Nov. 22, I’ll publish my annual list of restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day and serving buffets and other meals. This is the story for people who don’t want to cook OR do the dishes.

Let me know if I’ve missed anyone.
