I’ve been informed by the fine folks at Lipton that Friday is National Iced Tea Day.
Now, it’s my belief that we all should get the day off work to observe this important holiday — and that we should spend it on our back porches, watching the sun turn a glass jar filled with water and tea bags into Sun Tea, one of the things my mom always made when I was growing up.
I love iced tea, especially with a generous squeeze of lemon in it. (I don’t, however, love sweet tea, a horror I discovered when I lived in Chattanooga, Tenn., for a couple of years. You actually have to SPECIFY in the south that you want “unsweet tea” to avoid being served this abomination.)
I digress.
This week’s question of the day is about iced tea. I want to know which restaurant serves Wichita’s best iced tea. I have a couple of nominees. I love the fruity but not sweet tea that Il Vicino brews, and until I re-tasted Tanya’s Soup Kitchen’s similar version when it reopened, I’d forgotten how much I’d missed it. Yum.
Let me know in the comments section below who else has great tea.
