Time to loaf off

This is the best kind of loafing.

One of my three-year-old dreams has come true: I’ve been added to the judges’ panel of the Loaf Off, a meatloaf competition for charity now in its third year.

What could be better than sampling meatloaf for a living? How did I get this job?

The Loaf Off is set for Feb. 26 at The Anchor, and pits local chefs and meatloaf enthusiasts, who will compete in categories including Top Loaf, Best of Show and People’s Choice. The event raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas. My co-judges include Tanya Tandoc and Joe Stumpe, and spectators are allowed in to sample the finished products along with us.

At the moment, the Make-A-Wish folks are taking entry applications, so if you make a lovely loaf, today’s the day to sign up. Follow this link to download your form.
