One of the most common questions I get as a restaurant reporter (right up there with “When will Wichita get a Cheesecake Factory?”) is “Who gives away free birthday meals?”
The disappointing answer is that the no-strings-attached free birthday meal is sort of rare these days. Some places will give away desserts, and a lot of places will mail coupons for free stuff if you signed up long in advance.
Today, my friends Jaime and Brian — who make up the good lookin’ part of our photo department and who share Dec. 6 as a birthday — went out in search of free birthday eats and landed at Denny’s, where both feasted on a free Grandslam breakfast.
