Delano Bierocks & Brats is a new, tiny restaurant that should open in the next couple of weeks at 1225 W. Douglas (in the former Chi Ducs space right across the street from the soon-to-close Braum’s).
The owner is Mary Hansen, who has operated food booths at the Kansas State Fair, including Roadhouse Bar & Grill, for the past 30 years. But now Mary’s ready for a more stationary lifestyle, and her tiny restaurant will serve bierocks, beer brats, smoked sausages, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and fried chicken. She also hopes to sell her smoked barbecue on Saturdays.
She’ll have seating for 10 or 12 and will operate a drive-through. At the moment, she’s at the space cleaning, painting and preparing.
Once open, hours will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. I’ll update you when opening day arrives.
