Lawrence and Salina housing agencies get HUD grants

Federal housing agencies in Lawrence and Salina have received grants from the U.S.  Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The funds are intended to help low-income residents gain access to education, job training and employment, according to a news release. The federal money is to be used by the housing agencies to hire or retain program coordinators who work with individuals to help connect them to support services.

Lawrence’s public housing authority is to receive $81,456, according to the release, and Salina’s will receive $60,000.
