Wichita Friends School to start work on major addition

Wichita Friends School plans to start work on a new addition at its West Kellogg campus, according to a news release from the school.

The start of the project was credited to a “generous lead gift from a long-time board member and his family.”

According to Aaron Fowler, director of advancement, the school has now raised $1.3 million toward its $1.8 million campaign goal.

A groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the new facilities is scheduled for Nov. 15, according to the release.

Officials said the school, which is based on Quaker principles and values, also will be moving forward with a new curriculum designed specifically for children in pre-kindergarten through third grade. It also plans a stronger marketing presence in Wichita.

“We are very excited about how the renovation and expansion of our new facilities will affect our students and the educational program we are able to offer,” Shelli Kadel, head of school, said in a statement.
