Via Christi moves its epilepsy monitoring unit

The epilepsy monitoring unit at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis has moved.

According to a news release from the hospital, the unit is one of two long-term video monitoring units for epilepsy in the state. It was previously located on 5E of the hospital but is now housed within the ChildLife Center on 5N.

The unit includes four patient rooms with video cameras and a central monitoring room. The set-up allows specially trained medical staff to monitor patients 24 hours a day.

The equipment is designed to provide evaluation of seizure disorders for adult and pediatric patients.  The average patient stay is from three to five days, according to the news release.
