Mobility rodeo set for Sept. 28 at Kansas Truck Mobility

The Mobility Rodeo, an event to raise awareness about the vehicles and equipment available to enhance mobility, is planned for Friday, Sept. 28, at Kansas Truck Mobility, 8846 W. Monroe Circle – two blocks south of Kellogg on South Tyler Road.

The rodeo has grown over the years and also includes a numbers of vendors who will have exhibits for those attending the event, said Maurice Linnens, president of the company, in a news release.

“At our Rodeo, you aren’t directed to a website, told to call an 800 number, or wait for a return call,” Linnens said in the release. “The answers are more immediate.  And you can actually test drive the equipment.”

One of the features of the Mobility Rodeo is the DIY Everyday Solutions, which are ideas submitted by customers of Kansas Truck Mobility to make living independently easier. Linnens said ideas from all years will be displayed for people to copy and take home. The winner of this year’s Everyday Solution contest will be announced at noon.

The rodeo starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. and includes 22 exhibitors.  For more information, go to www.kansastruckmobility.com

Training for taxi drivers starts Wednesday

To comply with new city requirements, taxi drivers will need to attend customer service training classes.

The two-hour classes begin Wednesday at Go Wichita Convention & Visitors Bureau, 515 S. Main, Suite 115. They are part of new requirements for drivers who want to obtain or renew their taxi license, according to a news release from the visitors bureau.

According to the release, the content of the class was developed after the city was asked to review taxi regulations. During the City Council’s discussions on the issue, Go Wichita offered to conduct the training at no charge.

The classes will be held on the third Wednesday each month through April 2013 to accommodate all current drivers. After April, the class will be offered on a quarterly basis.

For more information about the classes, contact Ken Vandruff, Go Wichita  director of communications at kvandruff@gowichita.com or 316-660-6305.
