Governor to visit Pitsco in Pittsburg

Gov. Sam Brownback plans to visit Pitsco Education in Pittsburg on Monday, following up on the company being named Exporter of the Year by the Kansas Department of Commerce.

The state award was made in June. Other finalists for the state export award included area companies Bunting Magnetics Co. in Newton and Global Parts Inc. in Augusta, as well as Tank Connections in Parsons and Bergkamp Inc., in Salina.

Between 2008 and 2011, Pitsco saw its export sales of its educational products grow 71 percent, according to information provided by the company. Pitsco products are exported to more than 50 countries, and exports account for about 7 percent of the company’s total sales, company officials said.

According to an e-mail from the company, Brownback is scheduled to address Pitsco employees and invited guests and tour the company’s campus during his visit.
