Alco announces new online store

 

Alco Stores Inc. announced today that it is launching an e-commerce store to serve shoppers.

The venture will include more than 10,000 items, according to a news release from the company, which has its headquarters in Abilene.

The online store’s merchandise at ALCOstores.com adds to products available at Alco’s 216 stores, which operate in 23 states.
The company said in its release that products offered on ALCOstores.com include video games and electronics, housewares, sporting goods, appliances and furniture, as well as office supplies and other goods.

Intrust Arena hires operations manager

Nate Johnson has been hired as operations manager for Intrust Bank Arena, according to a news release from the arena.

Johnson comes to Wichita from Peoria, Ill., where he served as assistant operations manager for the Peoria Civic Center.

Johnson’s responsibilities include supervising ice installation and removal, events set-up and conversion, building and grounds maintenance and management of the operations crew.

His past experience includes hotel management with the Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn & Suites and Radisson Hotels.

Health fair hopes to appeal to Hispanic community

A Health and Wellness Fair targeted to area Hispanic residents is planned for Aug. 11 at Century II.

Organizer Abel Perez said the fair, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Convention Hall, is looking for vendors interested in participating in the event.

According to information provided by Perez and Synergic Resources and Spanish Media Group, two of the sponsoring organizations, it will be among the largest health and wellness events in the area, and the goal is to appeal to the 90,000 Latinos and Hispanics who live in the Wichita metro area.
