Newman names Horine to vice president’s post

Troy Horine started work today as vice president for university advancement at Newman University.

A native of Wichita, Horine will oversee Newman’s Advancement Department, which incorporates fundraising and development, alumni relations, university relations, and Mission and Archives.

In a news release, University President Noreen M. Carrocci said Horine “brings a great depth of experience in fundraising, alumni relations, communications and management. He has a real track record of success, and truly glowing references from previous employers and staff.”

In the news release, Horine said he went to school at St. Francis of Assisi grade school and Bishop Carroll High School. From 1982 to 1986, he was director of development at Newman University, where he helped conduct the institution’s first capital campaign.

Horine’s most recent position was as director of major and leadership gifts at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine.

Horine earned bachelor’s degrees from Kansas State University and a master’s of business administration from Creighton.

He takes the position recently vacated by Tom Borrego, who left the university at the end of June to pursue other opportunities.
