You’ll rip my internet connection from my cold, dead hands

People just won’t give up certain things, even when they’re worried about going to the poorhouse. The survey, from BIGresearch and appearing in STORES magazine, showed what percentage of people said they wouldn’t give up:

Internet (80.9%), cell phone service (64.1%), cable television (60.5%), discount clothes shopping (43%), haircuts and colors (40%), fast food (36.6%), new shoes (24%).

There are some differences in who won’t give up what. 70 percent of women say cell phones are untouchable, while only 57.8 percent of men did. And 69.9 percent of 18-34 year olds find hair cuts or colorings expendable, compared to 57.8 percent of 35-54 year olds.

But people did highlight some things they would give up: luxury handbags, satellite radio, specialty shopping for apparel, high-end cosmetics, maid service and facials. Now, there’s sacrifice.
