Wells, Wachovia blog on merger

Wells Fargo and Wachovia have launched a blog aimed at keeping their customers up-to-date on the merger between the San Francisco-based regional bank and the Charlotte, N.C.-based megabank.

It looks as though the blog is being updated by the communications staffs of both banks, but there’s also a blog item from Wells CEO John Stumpf.

And, like with most blogs, there’s a place for readers (customers) to post their comments on blog items or to ask bank staff questions related to the merger.

Hopefully Wachovia customers in Wichita and elsewhere in the state will find this blog helpful and useful.

California screamin’

California may have been the land of promise for the last 100 years, but it sure looks unpromising right now. The unemployment rate for the whole state is 8.3 percent (Kansas is at 4.8 percent), according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics release. Eleven of the state’s 26 metro areas have double digit unemployment, including El Centro at 23.4 percent.
