In a new Pew Research Center poll, 59 percent of Americans say that the government can successfully address our economic problems when asked if the federal government still has the power to fix the economy or whether globalization has made this task too difficult to accomplish.
70 percent of the public say that government expenditures of billions of dollars on roads, bridges, and public works are the right thing to do.
Whatever happened to Ronald Reagan’s” Government isn’t the solution to the problem, the government is the problem.”

Entertainment radio programs are keeping Reagan’s concept alive. They continue to push for less restrictions on millionaires and businesses and the heck with workers who actually do the labor. They promote that helping the disadvantaged and disabled is a “cradle to grave” concern that millionaires don’t have to deal with so why should they care about others.
Government education changed that. The USA has been a Socialist Nation since 1913 and every decade it has been digging itself deeper into Socialism, even during Reagan’s era.
We either will have to be faced with the reality of jumping out of this deep hole onto the surface of freedom & capitalism, or we are digging our own grave by trying to find the utopia in a Socialist pit.
That pit is going to hit bottom one day.
Reagan set out to prove that an incompetantly run government would be a problem. He succeeded in that – then George Bush took that to ever-lower depths. A well-run government, on the other hand, CAN be a force to help solve our problems. Eisenhour showed that with the Interstate Highway system and Kennedy set us on the course to land on the moon – and spin off incredible technology. DARPA developed the ARPANet that evolved into the internet.
I do have to chuckle just a bit at “digging our own grave by trying to find the utopia in a Socialist pit” coming from a supporter of the very Socialist Arena here in Sedgwick County.
Here in the USA publicly funded public works is rooted is the government bailout of failed for profit projects of capitalists. We all benefit from public works project, but capitalists profit the most. The axiom follow the money appears to hold in many case still.
Reagan’s’ theory on the government, was only campaign rhetoric, that wasn’t true then and, isn’t true now. What saved Americans collective butts during the Reagan years was moderating energy costs. Reaganomics didn’t do the oil producing States like Kansas any favors.
