Wachovia’s silent run

There’s a fascinating story today from the Charlotte Observer about how rapidly things fell apart at Wachovia.

More importantly, it spells out why it happened, and how come everyone from the treasury secretary and president of the United States were involved in its shotgun wedding with Citigroup.

It’s really a scary tale about how quickly a storied institution can fall in a matter of days.
