Ty’s Diner on the market

One of the best hamburger joints in Wichita is for sale.

Ty’s Diner, 928 W. 2nd, could be sold in a matter of days, according to owner Richard Diamond. It went on the market in a weekend Eagle classified ad, inviting only serious inquiries.

There have been a bunch of those inquiries, Diamond said, judging by the number of messages on his cell phone. Diamond said he didn’t want to elaborate on the plans to sell the diner until a deal is done.

For those of you who don’t know, Ty’s is a great step back in time for those of us old enough to remember what a real old-style hamburger and fries were like.

And if my doctor, Art Windholz, is in the audience, move along, sir. Nothing to see here. This entire blog post is a figment of your imagination.

Boeing: I’m a Seoul man

Boeing Co. has opened a new office in Seoul, Korea.

Boeing has an important role in establishing the company “as Korea’s preferred partner in aerospace and as a responsible corporate citizen in the Korean community,” said Boeing Korea president William Oberlin in a statement.

This year, Boeing celebrates its 20th year doing business in Seoul.

Boeing Korea works closely with Boeing’s businesses to support their efforts with Korean customers, including Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and the Ministry of National Defense.

Coffee Break

Did you notice that gas was down to $3.67 ($3.65 if you have one of those fancy tracking devices from Dillons) this morning? I think it’s time for a road trip.

And here are your links for today:

  • Speaking of gas, GM is closing four truck/SUV plants in North America and might discontinue the Hummer. What will the world do without the Hummer?
  • FedEx will change the name of its FedEx Kinko’s stores to FedEx Office. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Some of the best days of my college years spent at Kinko’s.
  • The Los Angeles Times tells the sad tale of Merced, Calif., which has one of California’s highest foreclosure rates. One business in the story says its sales are down 30 percent from two years ago.
  • The former chief of Airbus parent EADS, Noel Forgeard, has said one of his German colleagues was appointed mainly to spy on him.
