A girl can hope

Each time I drive past the former Cinemas West theater, I think longingly back to when it showed movies you couldn’t see anywhere else in Wichita. I spent many happy nights there (except for one when I saw a particularly upsetting but well-done Ralph Fiennes flick, but that’s another story). I’ve always hoped the theater would reopen.

The space has been vacant for years, but that’s about to change. Westlink Neighborhood Association is buying the space and renovating it for a new community center. I’m sure the neighbors will enjoy it, but I’ll still miss the theater.
