Forgive me, Don

Don Henley, or as I call him, God, was in Oklahoma City tonight, performing at the Zoo Ampitheater. Henley is the lead singer of the Eagles, for those of you who don’t know that. And if you don’t know it, what are you doing on my blog, anyway. Get out of here immediately!

Anyway, I did not see Henley tonight. I stewed and stewed and eventually decided not to go. I had the Wichita Open golf tournament to cover, anyway. And I just went to a great concert last night at Cessna Stadium. Hippiefest was so much fun with the Turtles, the Zombies, Mitch Ryder, Badfinger, Mountain and Iron Butterfly, as well as a couple of other bands.

The Zombies stole the show, in my opinion. That is one great group with its two founding members still around. ‘She’s Not There’ is among my favorite songs of all time.

But back to Henley. I have seen him seven times in person, going as far as North Carolina to do so. I can’t get enough Henley, but tonight I didn’t answer the bell. Don, forgive me. I know the Eagles are putting the finishing touches on a record that is to be released later this year. That is to be followed by a major tour in 2008. I vow to see the Eagles at least twice during that tour (come to Wichita again, guys). But tonight, no go. Please forgive me.

When people pass fifty, some get a divorce, some get a sportscar, some revert to their youth. Where are you today Bob.

A wee bit of trivia that might interest you, Bob. Look in the credits on the Don Henley album “End of the Innocence”. Find the name Mike McRoberts (sound engineer). Now Bob, go to your Sophmore year high school yearbook and find Mike McRoberts. He was a senior that year. He was also my next door neighbor in Derby. Small world.

Okay Bob, I know you think Wichita is a town that doesn’t support events. Were you surprised that the both gambling propositions were voted down? Did you support the effort to bring gambling to Sedgwick County?

So Don Henley is God. Why did God have that 14 year-old girl in his house in the 70’s? Why did God give her drugs? Nice mentor.

    Bob:
Remember your “God” had a little girl trapped in his Hollywood home for days under the influence of drugs. Some things can be forgiven, some can’t.

    Bless you in your worship.

Don is God? I wonder if that 13 year-old girl he kept doped up in his house several years ago agrees. Nice folks you choose to worship. Don Felder probably thinks he is God, also, since he determined that he would no longer get any money from the Eagles.

As an Eagles fan, I also like the members as individual musicians. However, referring to Henley as God, is a stretch. What ever happened to his arrest for having a 16 year old in his hotel room back in his spirited years? I’m sure he was seduced, but maybe God could have avioded the bad publicity.
