OK, what do you want to read?

I do two hours of radio every weekday on KFH (98.7 FM, 1240 AM). I write a newspaper column. I talk about myself to the point where talking about myself becomes awkward.

For the most part, I live a quiet life. I don’t get out and about all that much and when I do it’s around people I know well and enjoy. I hang out a lot at Side Pockets because I like the people there.

Connie sent me an e-mail telling me how disappointed she was when she opened up my blog on Kansas.com on an almost daily basis and found little there that was updated. I have not done a good job with this blog and I know that. You want my deepest, darkest secrets? You want me to be funny? You want me to write about my long career at The Eagle and the fact that, for the past couple of weeks or so I’ve been wondering about whether this is all there is?

As my good friends are prone to tell me, I have one of the best jobs imaginable. And I do. I love sports and I love writing. I have also grown to love radio. So when I feel like this, like there should be more, it creates a sizable amount of guilt. What could I possibly complain about?

Oh, I also have a son who is getting to experience a great summer in Atlanta, covering the Braves for MLB.com. He loves it. He inherited my passion for baseball, which I inherited from my father. I can’t tell you how rewarding that is.

I’m sure this is just a lull, created by the suddenness of not having as much to write about. When Wichita State’s baseball season ended a couple of weeks ago the local sports merry-go-round came to a standstill. I was ready for a break, but now that I’m in one I’m ready for something to happen.

Doesn’t make sense, I know. I’m going on vacation in a couple of weeks and getting away will be good. Planning a trip through the Dakotas and into Montana and Idaho. Then swinging down through Wyoming. I’m really looking forward to some time away from here and I’m only going to turn on my cell phone once a day, just to check messages.

I do appreciate all of you who come to this blog and I again _ AGAIN _ vow to do a better job of keeping it gassed up.

WHEN YOU RETURN, hopefully Tim Finchem will have a draft of the PGA’s response to the steriods issue. Have a great trip, you are headed to one of the most beautiful places in our country. Jeff will be home soon, and football will be just around the corner. HAPPY TRAILS

I agree with Connie. You probably want to tell all of us who keep up on your blog to get a life. It’s sad but some of us really need to. Myself, I’m laid off my last job and single. (spoke to you briefly on match)You seem to have it all. Travel, sports, and I’m sure you would be married if you wanted to be. Anyway, I enjoy your posts but never did hear what you thought about the Lost finale.

I think you could take lessons from the Dilbert blog. Just write about everyday stuff here. Kinda the “did you ever wonder” stuff. Your sense of humor would be great with those topics.

I know this probably isn’t what you were looking for when you posted this, but I get tired of hearing about Michael Vick, Tank Johnson and Pacman Jones, so this is what I would like to read and hear about in the media.

This info comes from - http://www.star-telegram.com/388/story/149386.html

It’s about LaDainian Tomlinson. I am a big Charger fan and have heard for awhile that LT gives back a great deal to the community and I am sure that lots of other professional athletes give back to their communities as well but we hardly ever hear about it. Part of the story goes like this:

The communities of Fort Worth, Waco and San Diego also have gotten a lift from Tomlinson. “LT’s 21 Club” provides needy children with school supplies, tickets to Chargers games and college scholarships.

He has donated more than $85,000 in scholarships to students at Waco University High School, which he attended, and another $65,000 to San Diego-area high school students. He sent seven San Diego-area high school students to entrepreneurial camp at Columbia University this year and plans to do the same in Fort Worth and Waco next year.

He also feeds 2,100 families for Thanksgiving, and he gives out 2,100 toys to a children’s hospital in San Diego.

The Como Community Center in Fort Worth, as well as the Youngblood Boys & Girls Club in Waco, will get new televisions, computers and educational DVDs for their educational centers in dedications this week.

Why can’t we read about this, instead of who’s getting charged with this crime or under suspicion for that crime?

When it comes time for it, you could use the blog for commentary on the grand spectacle we know as the World Series of Face-Off. Heck, if I win it (to make it three-straight), that might even be worthy for column material. Then again, that does sound a little self-serving. Don’t worry Bob. Just like last year, I will make the Lutz bracket proud. Haertl, Hammer, and Savage can have all of those other stiffs in their brackets. You have me!!!

By the way, you and I have something in common…we both missed our dads profusely on Fathers Day!!! Does it ever get easier?

    Hey Bob,

A Suggestion on keeping up with your blog - just divide up your Tuesday Column over a number of days. Then when that runs out keep us updated on your sons work with the Braves (I thought about that the other day when the Cardinals played Atlanta). Also, you could give us an update on your vacation. Just let us know what is happening with you!
